...when it comes to American-made smokers. The brands that I could find that produce smokers in the USA are Hasty Bake, Texas Pit Crafters, Yoder Smokers, Lang BBQ Smokers, MAK Grills, Twin Eagles Grills, Myron Mixon Smokers, Pitts & Spitts, Smokin’ Brothers, Weber, Meadow Creek, Cookshack, Big...
Yoder YS640, Purchased new Spring of 2017. This unit has been kept in a screened in porch for the 1st 2 years then got moved outside. Sometimes covered sometimes not. Has been rained on without a cover more than once. Got flipped over while moving it with forks on my SC tractor. Has had at least...

...primarily wood for heat and smoke. I did side by side comparisons with my propane smoker with wood chunks (a Camp Chef Smoke Vault 24) and my Yoder pellet, and while the CC did seem to have more smoke flavor, the food from the Yoder was picked unanimously by my family for the complexity of...
Well at least you live in the right state!!! :emoji_wink:
Congrats on the Yoder. They are top of the line, and should give you years of cooking enjoyment.
Hello! I just bought a new Yoder and I'm pretty excited about it. I've been smoking for years so nothing new but learning the Yoder might be a bit of a learning curve. Gave up on the Treager. WSM has been the standard for years interspersed with a stick burner and a few others here and there...
...my Rec Teq over a decade ago and still love it with zero regrets. I made a spread sheet and narrowed it down to top three. MAC, Rec Teq, Yoder. I still believe all of these will make a purchase. Very happy with my final decision.
Welcome to SMF. Feel free to reach out. It will be fun...
On the Recteq "LO", it cycles the fan on & off much like what you described about the Green Mountain. It works fantastic on mine! It generates ALOT of smoke. From what i`ve measured for temps, its running at around 180 degrees when on the "LO" setting. It only does this on the "LO" setting...
...paper, I suggest following that part. I didn't and I wished I had but it didn't affect the flavor or the end product for this cook.
Into the Yoder @ 350° with LJ Pecan Blend pellets.
The open small rack was done in about 40 minutes and I let the foil covered rack go about 50 minutes.
Small...
...front to back but the right side runs about 25° hotter than the left.
Baby backs were rubbed with Traeger's Garlic chili rub and lots of CBP. Yoder set at 250° pit temp. Used the 2-2-1 method and sauce was Sweet Baby Rays cut with cider vinegar and sirichi and more CBP.
ABT's I cut in...
...XL BGE, Weber smokey mountain, Stumps XL baby gravity feed, a Cookshack electric smoker, the RecTeq Road Warrior, a Gateway drum smoker and a Yoder YS 1500s, which I am now selling due to space issues.
I will need your help as I venture into my new goals of trying whole hog, trying wild...
Parents got us a pizza kit for my wifes an I birthday since they are only five days apart. There are four of us so made four 12” pizzas. Fired up the yoder, took out the diffuser plate and added two pizza stones. Let heat up while wife made the pizzas. Turned out great.
...reviews I see of bad boards, poor temp control, warping, thin gauge sheetmetal, and the like have given me a moment of pause.
I have a Yoder YS640S that does an amazing sear job due to its removable two-piece heat/drip shield. This gives the fire pot direct access to the grate, allowing...
Louisiana grills are made in China along with most others. The American made tend to be higher end and pricey. For reasonable priced American made check out Blazn Grill works. https://mgrills.com/ Seem to be well made and are cheaper than Yoder, MAK, Lone Star etc
