That's one thing I absolutely love with the AuberPID. We were below 0° all last week and was still able to cold smoke bacon. Set the Auber at 37° and let it purr for 5 hrs each day. No worry of freezing.
It wasn't too bad. Have the app installed? I would play around with it. You will have some "fun". Wifi only works on 2.4Ghz band so you might have to disable 5G. Also make sure you have decent wifi strength at smoker location. Old router was weak and needed a repeater. Current one (came...
Lookin good, welcome to the PID club!!!
If you need any PID tuning numbers should the autotune not behave well, we can whip some up for you. Can't wait to see what you smoke :D
I have an AW-1520H so it is 15A.
I'll give those settings a shot and adjust where I'm putting my Auber probe and see how that effects things after my other tests just to make sure the smoker itself is functioning properly. I did make a new exhaust dead center in the top and my top probe always...
Hi All,
Hoping to get a bit of help.
I have the Auber AW-1520H V2 and I want to do the MES rewire to replace the controller for better temp control/smoking.
I have been following the guide and failed at the first hurdle which is identifying the correct wires to bypass. Mainly because my...
What are your variables set to? Does your light on the auber flash or stay on constantly? The out of the box setting I believe P=7, I=600 and D=150 was no good for my Mes 40 as well as autotune no good. The auber would flash 20 degrees below set temp and will never get to set temp with 3 ribs...
Have you considered switching to an external PID controller? I bought an Auber years ago that keeps on working. There a lot more options now.
The consideration is amperage. My MES-40 can pull up to 10 Amps. Auber handles this. Other controllers may not.
Have a new MES30 with an auberPID controller installed, rewire done properly, PID set from the auber thread here, everything works...but I'm getting different temps between the auber sensor and my Thermoworks x4. The x4 seems to be lagging behind the auber by about 20f but has settled around...
I bought a MES40 and didn't even use it before I bypassed the stock controls and added an AuberPID. The box is great and a smoke tube with a PID makes it a great smoker.
...this correct:
- The instructions you give at the beginning of this thread are just to bypass the MES controller?
- I then need to get an AuberPID. Can I use this one from Amazon that has wifi: https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-WIFI-Temperature-Humidity-Controller/dp/B06XFV4JT1/
or do I have...
...the MES heating element.
The PID will keep sending power to hit the temp you entered in and hold at that temp.
4. The SSR is inside the AuberPID controller already so you don't have to buy or use a separate one. The SSR's job is basically to act as an On/Off switch when the brain of the...
Congrats on the rewire!!!
Yeah your braided wires are red and blue. As long as you go smooth white to braided and smooth black to braided, you have completed the rewire!
Soon you will be full blown PID operating :D
I used the AuberPID WS-1510 ELPM and turned my 6 qt manual not digital slow cooker into a yogurt maker or SV water oven set to high that would hold to the degree with P=4 I=0 D=40 per Auber chart they sent me before I got the stick Inkbird in 2019 for a big SV. No circulation needed and works...
That's what I did with my ST1460, but I put a warning tag on the ST cord saying not to plug directly into wall, as it would now be on 100% of the time and no longer thermostat controlled.
