After the grates and everything else, it probably cost me around 80 bucks total, or close to it. I just enjoy making things and figuring out how to make them work. Nice score on the WSM 14. I've been wanting one for a while, just haven't pulled the trigger

I've thought about it for years now . Then I thought about making a insert with a tap on it for my 14" WSM to use in place of the side door . Still might do that someday , but I've since started burning wood chunks for higher temp cooks . I have a pastrami in mine now . Set to...

As for a second WSM... They are very easy to make with the weber Smokey Joe kettle... I have two of them... What's really nice about them is you can still use the Smokey Joe as a grill when needed to do steaks or burgers or whatever... Just search for MiniWSM's builds ...
I'm thinking of making a mini-WSM setup to occasional use for my wife and I, mostly on camping trips. I have an older 14" Smokey Joe.
