Thks AL and JJ if I had my way it would be more on than trimmed.
Pulled 1130 last night, wrapped in foil and placed in ECB elec. set 150F. Got up 530 this morning packed up cooler. Pan of biscuits and the smaller ham didint make it 5 min after carving. Going to reheat ribs and carve other ham...
I'm going to have to make some rising crust Digiorno loaded pizza in the ECB (El Cheapo Brinkmann) tonight.. It's late but it's not that much more time to do on the smoker as in the oven. I Can fast track the ECB temps for 400° like an oven..
Get the charcoal and hickory going as I saute the...
Still using my modified ECB but in the past 3 or 4 weekends we have checked off a batch of chicken breasts, 20 lbs. of pork shoulder and some ABT's. On Monday we'll try 2 kinds of chicken wings and a pan of cauliflower and cheese. Think low carb mac and cheese, it's better than it sounds...
Mods: if this needs moved please feel free to do so. I wasn't sure if it should go here, in the build forum, or under ECB. So I took a chance.
So, a year or two ago, the wife went out and got me a smoker. Of sorts. I guess she had heard me complaining about wanting to smoke again. The one...
Just do what you started to do, Rib rack , then when you wrap em, you can stack em, rotate them half way you will be fine. I have done that more times than I can count on my old ECB
Gary
I was going to just do this with the pan , like in this thread.

Looks like a great cooker to start with. My first was an ECB. it really got me hooked on smoking. Tried the electric (super easy to use but the taste not quite there,) a propane Smoker, and now my Pellet smoker. You are right, one needs to learn your smokers quirks and such. But that is part of...
Hey guys,
My Ol' Red electric brinky wont get up past 200 F. I just think the heating element is worn out. I have wanted a charcoal smoker for a while now, so I think I am going to convert it to charcoal. Has anybody done this or have any tips and photos?? I have found some dated threads on...
It's going to be in the low to mid 30s tomorrow. I plan on making a pot pie from start to finish , from scratch, on the ECB .
This aught to be a challenge.. Smoking half a chicken to start.. removing meat from the bone and cutting it up.
Cooking onion and some raw vegetables including potatoes...
...particularly your tri-tip rub recipes and method.
Oh... and you might check out your local Craigslist or the like for a used smoker. They pop up there all the time for super cheap and might save you the trouble of converting your ECB. I just missed out on an a barely used WSM 22 that went for...
...and assembly (e.g. higher grade and gauge of steel, quality of controller, spot vs full weld, etc). Some folks turn out amazing results on a $60 ECB .... as good as others can turn out on a $6000 commercial smoker. As mentioned, the smoker is just a tool, the final product is a combination of...
...as local but close, Tractor Supply.
My last offset smoker I gave away, when I transferred out to Guam. While there, I converted an Electric ECB to charcoal. I gave it away when I retired from that career, and left Guam. I've been retired for about 4 and a half years now. We also had a gas...
Chicken breasts 6 ways and a handful of ABT's to go on the ECB later today. I expect to learn a lot, and am ready to break the glass to buy pizza in case of emergency!
1 "untreated"
1 injected with broth, butter, and a little salt
4 breasts in brine
- we'll rub one with pepper, onion powder...
I don't think anyone has the title of group Leader for ECB group. So why not? I'm the most active ECB user in the forum and have a vast knowledge of all the mods.. The useless and most useful. Who can make me a leader? Seriously.. :D
Hey, have to start somewhere..
Saw a couple of terms online today and tried to look up awhat they meant. CB i figured was Canadian Bacon. ECB still alludes me. I know somewhere on the site is a list of terms but I can't find it. Searching "terms" or "ECB" found a posts where the term is used (without definition) but no...
