Hi I was wondering what the best place is to buy larger quanities of this stuff? I don't have any of the stores you guys talk about around me. So if their is a good website I could order from that everyone uses that would be very helpful.

Thanks

Wow what a coinky-dink that you should ask

I just orderd up several different kinds of paprika, some basil, some cumin some, chili powder some turkish bay leaves and I forget what else from this site.

They shipped the same day!!

pretty proud of my spice collection-even the 4 diff. types of paprika-but looked through all the shelves and just couldn't find conky-dink,I bet they keep it close to that spendy stuff, saffron.theres a few online places to buy, luckly I have the 17th st. market here-3 isles of spices-just about any u could think of-east Indian-Asian Spanish-etc.

Not sure if you have them around where you live but Smart and Final and Winco Foods have fairly good selections of the basics - even Costco - Penzys is my favorite for the more specialized items

I guess I'm lucky in this way too because we have a perwick spices here near the mall and that place has every spice you can think of on the shelves. Online I don't really know and good web site. sorry.

if you can find any of these ethnic stores you can get spices pretty cheap.....

I get my stuff from butcher-packer in Detroit... Click here for their spice section.

Good stuff, good prices, and they sell a LOT of other meat related gear. Anything from scales to butcher paper to hooks and netting....

I happened across the Spice Barn while looking for Worcestershire powder...they HAVE IT! http://www.spicebarn.com/

Not too bad of prices on their other spices....and I noticed they had greater variety of "sizes" available to purchase...in case you only want a small amount to try something out before comittng to a large bag of it.

I like MossyMO's idea that this thread could become a "sticky" as a resource for online spice warehouses....perhaps the Mods could put all the links into one post for ease of use...?

If you really want to stock up, check out http://www.herbalcom.com/
You do have to buy by the pound, but their prices & quality are really good.
Plus shipping & handling is $6.95 no matter how much you order (I'm not telling how much the box on it way to me is expected to weigh

...but I do baking too, so I had to stock up for the holidays)

I thought I'd put in my vote for butcher & packer . I ordered some ground mustard , paprika , onion powder and black pepper about 3 o'clock in the afternoon one day and the next day when I opened my door there the package was . I'm on the west side of Michigan but that was quick delivery . I didn't think they would ship it being it was about 3 or 3:30 when I ordered . My only other advice would be to doublecheck or triplecheck your order or have some one check it for you and read to you what you are ordering . I was in a hurry when I ordered mine and when it arrived I discovered ground black pepper instead of whole peppercorns (which is what I THOUGHT I ordered) so I figured they screwed up , but when I checked my copy of the order from when I ordered , I realized I ordered the ground instead of the whole . If I would have slowed down and double checked I probably would have caught it . Everything I got seemed like it was very fresh when I opened the bags .
