I really need to ask this question and now that I have read so many threads, I want to start to smoke ribs, chicken, briskets etc. We are a family of two with I am sure many friends. 1st question Propane or Electric or Charcoal. I don't want to babysit the smoker.

2nd question Bullet or Box type or?. 3rd would be a company that we can count on for replacement parts.

Money is a factor lets say around $200.00 to $250.00. for my first one.

Looking forward to your response's.

welcome to SMF..if your looking for an "easy" smoker..the Master Built is the way to go..you can go to a local sams and pick them up for a good price..go with the MES 40..you may think it is to large..but once you start smoking some food for family and friends you'll want to fill it up.  you will have to add wood chips every couple hours.  if you want check out the A-MAZE-N-SMOKER link to the right. you can get one that will use saw dust or pallets.  i have the one that uses dust and i have no complaints.  there will be more people on later to give you their opinion.

Redneck.... thanks what price are we looking at...do they have it at Costco? Master Forge

MES 40 can range in price from $200.00 up depending on sales price thru Sams Club, i got mine on sale thru cabels for $275.00 plus i had a couple hundred in gift certificates..i dont know much about master forge..sorry

Yep MES40 thats the one. You want get a big ol smoke ring but you will get some really good tasting smoked meat. Then order you a pellet smoke unit from Todd you will be set for some really good times and eating...
