What is your least favorite smoking task? Personally I would scrub 1000 greasy racks, dirty cutting boards, or soiled counter tops if I never had to clean the meat slicer. It has to be the worst job in the kitchen.

I spent 15 minutes slicing beef for jerky tomorrow. Then spent the next hour disassembling the slicer and scrubbing the parts. It amazes me where the meat bits somehow always end up. I thought I had it completely sanitized only to pull back the bar the slide runs on and find a piece of meat the size of a pea. How it got there baffles me.

Anyone else have smoking jobs they hate?

Yup!  For such a nifty kitchen gadget it sure is a pita to clean.  Especially if I'm goofy enough to use it on just a small amount of meat.

I used it for some jerky, thinking how cool it would be to not have to take my jerky off one at a time as they each got done.  Now I'm going back to cutting my jerky by hand and pulling it as it gets done, rather than clean that slicer for 2 minutes of "labor saving" ( ? ) fun.

I do love it for slicing roasts, briskets and things like that.  Then it is worth the clean up process.

Mine is trying to give them meat a nap. Everyone is to impatient and tries to dig in as soon as it gets out the smoker. I may be guilty of it from time to time.

lol I don't know about cleaning a 1000 racks. But cleaning the slicer your right. It doesn't matter the quanity of meat 20 minutes easy. I try to do 10lbs minium or I'll use the electric knife.
