The wife would kill me if I bought another camera! Just curious. Photography is a hobby of mine.

I was wondering if you went and got it . I like that smoker . Whatever you decide to smoke , post it up .
Sausage and peppers looks great .

Ha-Ha!!!! That is so funny. I just bought a Copperhead 5 and was going to do the burn in today. Great stick-making minds think alike!

Is yours a 4 or 5? I was thinking the ones with "Pro Series" on the front were the 4's but it's hard to tell from a photo.

I was amazed at the size of that thing. Photos on the web do not do it justice until you actually see one fully assembled in person. And to think I considered the 7 model (the Louisiana Grill's branded version at Costco which is on sale again), but I lucked up and got a 5 at Walmart on discount for $223 (I missed the $103-109 clearance deal earlier this year). I can't imagine needing more than this in cooking capacity!

yeah, I've got a set of 8 of the stainless Pit Barrel Cooker sausage hanging hooks. I need to find/make a hanging rod rack to fit mine as well. I see this being a very versatile unit. I do a lot of sticks and jerky so I'm interested to see how well it handles those at lower temps.

Dave I set mine on smoke today it seems to hold the same as the 150 setting.I will post when I make the rack looks easy enough

Richie, when you did your burn in at 350* did you have the visible smoke or a very thin blue smoke out of the stack (once it was up to 350* and stable)? In the video's I've seen, they showed a lot more smoke than I had at 350*. I basically had thin blue almost invisible smoke like what I normally see out of the WSM with wood chunks mixed in once the WSM is up to temp and stable. I'm thinking this is prefect, but since it looked smokier in some video's I've seen, I wanted to see what you experienced on your burn in.

I did notice a 340-360* slow swing when set for 350*. It took 3 1/2 to 4 minutes for the swing. I can live with a 20* band any day. I would imagine the band is tighter at lower temps, but even at 225 I'll take a 20* band all day long. I'm 45 minutes into a 1 hour burn in on mine. I'm using Pit Boss hickory pellets for the burn in.

Was once my hobby too then they took away Cibachrome and then Kodachrome too and it was over.
Partially my own fault though because my last working gig was developing silicon image sensors that killed off chemical photography for the most part. First web cameras, then DSCs and finally smartphones finished the job. Still have what was once thousands of dollars worth of camera gear and glass lurking in the basement.

I, to, used to do the same. Loved going into the darkroom. And processing the rolls of film. And watching my pictures coming to life. I've forgotten most of the process. But I'll never forget rocking the tray back and forth. And seeing my efforts come to life.

Alright Brother Richie!!
A Little Break-in and A Little Sausage, Peppers & Onions!!
Nice Job!

Dave when mine got up to temp the smoke was super thin blue.I ran a 20 min test again this morning on smoke setting runs the same as 150* setting may go 15* up but the same thing down
Going to do some sticks on Monday

I did manage to sell i.e. let go of my enlarger before the end came but I just couldn't part with the cameras for some reason. I guess it got easy to be interesting anymore so I gave it up.
Hey guys you can go to the Chat Room or start your own freakin post

I noticed it smokes more as the temp is on the down swing, and then tapers off as it starts to rise in that cycle around the set point. When I ran at 350* not so much visible smoke, but at 225* yes, clearly different levels compared to 350*, but more visible on the temp downswing. Of course this could be the pellets (I'm using Pit Boss hickory for now, but I don't know if Pit Boss from my part of the country is the same as Pit Boss somewhere else, etc... as we have seen that before. I have a quarter pallet of Lumber Jack competition blend and their fruitwood blend, but I'm saving that for when I get the trial runs down pat since Lumber Jack is harder to find around here).

So far I'm pretty happy with mine. Guess I need to go figure out what I'm smoking next!

Richie , I'm watchin this one . Been lookin at those like I said . Interested on how it works for you .

Nice looking smoker Richie, looking forward to the action shots.
