Been smoking off and on now, trying to get a little more into it. Bought some mesquite to try out, which shipped and received last summer. Got it out today to try, and it has a yellow powder on it, almost in strips. Any thoughts?

Still in bag in case I should try to return

Hard for me at least to see thru the shine of the plastic but that looks just like the natural color of that length of grain on those pieces of wood.

I don't really see anything out of normal . I just grabbed a couple chunks from my bag of B&B .
It's somewhat powdery . Just the way some of it is . I use it a lot . Some are like that , some aren't .
Not sure if this is what you're seeing or not .

Looks like rot to me but hard to see enough to tell, normally if rot it gets soft , I don/t use much of it but bought a box recently and will ck it later.

Mine looks soft , but it's not . Just the way some of it is .
I agree , use it up . Nothin' like the smell of mesquite with a chill in the air .
