I just got a slightly used 14” WSM, is there anything I must know before getting my feet wet? Everything is pretty clean, guy said he only used it a couple times, but I still plan to clean it up before I fire it up.

Tie wire the ring to the charcoal grate,it makes life easier.
Dunno what kind of experience you have with smoking/charcoal smokers,if you have any questions -shoot.

I will certainly do that, thanks Moto. I’ve heard they are very user friendly, unlike my OK Joe that took some getting used to

....shoulders...brisket....chicken...short ribs, beef or pork...great...ribs , tough nut to crack , have to split them....

Yes ,,, I agree , you're gonna love it . Use Royal oak briquettes like said above . I also fixed the ring to the grate . Have fun . Do some chicken parts to test it out and lets us know . Got mine for $99 new in the box couple years ago .

I have the 14" bigger brother and it's a joy to smoke with. The 14 is supposed to be miser when it comes to fuel consumption. Have fun.

Chris

I've had my 14" WSM for several years now.The only thing I've done to mod it is gasket the door and lid.
