So I am pretty cheap, and often won't "splurge" on a disposable pan to smoke a side dish. Thus I am limited to my 3 cast irons, of which the biggest won't even fit on my WSM 18" when I use that. I also don't like intensive dishwashing. I have never considered to just wrap a metal casserole pan, or even pyrex in foil, which I'm sure would work.

I'll often use heavy dutytin foil to ease clean up also. Wrap whatever I don't want to scrub.

Wrapping in foil makes for easy clean up.. a lot of people wrap their water pans and other parts inside the smoker to keep the clean up to a minimum.

If you buy them at one of the warehouse clubs I think the prices are pretty reasonable. I'm pretty cheap about this stuff too, so I'll re-use the aluminum pans until it hardly resembles what it started out as :emoji_laughing: .

It's kind of deceiving.. I see a lot of local people going to the Dollar Stores and paying $1 each for those pans.. or more at the Walmarts etc. I buy a 30 pack of them for just under $8 at Sam's Club which comes out to be like 25 cents a pan. Make it 50 cents if you buy the lids HAHA.

i personally hate scrubbing pots and pans but i do sometimes but for the most part i use aluminum pans my wife finds at flea markets, she finds lots for real cheap, these are not high quality but good for what i use them for.

If you have a metal or aluminum pan you want to use, wipe the outside of it with dawn, dishwashing soap and let dry. We do this with our enamel pots and coffee pots we use on the fire... soot comes off real easy.
