Still looking for local work, lol......

Ive wanted to work for myself for a long time and wife thinks its a great idea, and maybe less crying about Corporate crap and nothing made in the USA.....

Ive been doing kitchen work with some shop work since I was 16, now closer to 40'

I do my share of desk work, not just internet or gaming, but enjoy the design work well, but like building(& cooking) so much better.

Ive tried school(college) a few times and just not my thing. Give me a kitchen or shop, heck or even a farm, and.Im golden.....

BTW, Im a geek and artist too. (& even saw too)

Feedback?

Do you do woodturning?  Something you can do in your spare time, making pens and pensets, in your basement or shop, sell them for a good profit, too!  There's several good links on it, one I have checked into is Pennstate or something like that.  You can get the whole set up - lathe, tools, blanks, everything for cheaper than you think.

I'd stay away from PSI...they worst service on the planet! Craft Supply (woodturnerscatalog dot com) is far superior to PSI. My first pen was about $1000

the next one was $3.50. After 2000 pens in 10 years, they sell well, but unless you invest heavy time,  money for top end stuff and quality is exceptional, it's expensive!! At the same time, I'm a full time medical student and I have a serious addiction to turning...but with school, I'm down to 4-5 pens a week

Not sure about a Lathe atm. We're in a duplex apartment, do have a spare room, Ill be using for when working indoors.

Im am starting to look for stores/online for hand tools. Maybe about the only power tool Im wanting is a high volt cordless drill.

knight you sound a lot like me.  I have been a high end paint contractor for 17 years & had to completely switch back to rental properties & not so nice stuff just to roll with the current economic situation.  You need space to work so maybe a storage unit place could offer you a deal instead of working in your apartment.  Figure out what you like to do & then figure out who wants your product & market.  If you are good at what you do & there is a market for it you could easily hit a gold mine.  Good luck.

Ive got a concrete porch (nice thing about wheelchair friendly apartments) about,

12'x8'

Not counting my grill/smoke/raised garden bed, space.

And from my upcoming builds, the spare bedroom to keep things in the dry and or when it rains, its called planning. And most of the furniture Ill be building, ya can brake down when we/buyer with just a box wrench and driver.
