Maui, Hi.
Last week I read a post on SMF that Ace Hardware had bags of applewood for sale. I figured they're a national company so I called the outlet here. They said they had applewood, but it would need to be special ordered from the mainland. And what they have is applewood chips and not chunks.......

So could any of you direct me to where I can get a variety of woods in chunks or chips other than Ace Hardware? Thanks in advance.

If you're looking to purchase online, I suggest you try this link http://www.barbecuewood.com/StoreFront.bok
They are quick to ship and are very reliable, and customer service is very good. 25% discount available until May 31st, use promo code memorial09. Good luck my friend.

Much Mahalo (Thanks) richoso1...I've bookmarked the page and will put in a call tomorrow. Take Care :>)

I have used apple, cherry, and pecan chunks from ACE Hardware. If they can order it for you and have it shipped in from the mainland, I bet there would be no shipping charge. It might be worth a shot.

Our local ACE Hardware has a pretty good selection of seasonal BBQ / smoker items.

Thanks for all the leads. I called the local WalMart on Maui at 3:45pm and the guy I spoke to in the gardening/BBQ section said they only carry Hickory and Mesquite. I let him know ththat I heard the mainland WalMarts carry apple wood. Again he says they only carry Hickory and Mesquite. I tell him Mesquite is what is found all around the islands here and is known as Kiawe. I asked him if he could special order me some apple wood (2 maybe 3 bags of applewood). He tells me once more that they only carry Hickory and Mesquite. I tell him that Ace Hardware down the street can order applewood through their supplier . He tells me WalMart only carry ................ Oh well....
My 3 bags of applewood chips will be here on June 13 at Ace Hardware. I will also call the other sources you pointed me to. Much mahalo to all.

No Apple wood in any Wal-Mart's I have seen.

Pretty much the only wood they carry is Mesquite or Hickory.
