I'm getting ready to change the wood on the front Shelf of my Smoke N Pit Pro and wanted to know what kind of wood was good to use and what to treat it with??

I am seriously thinking of using HDPE cutting board material (high density polypropylene) for my replacements. It is FDA food grade, in case you need to prepare something at the pit, weatherproof, and never needs sealed or painted. Here's what I'm talking about: http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/pro...ookie%5Ftest=1

Plus, I am getting the "mod bug" again...

I just got done tiling my bathroom. I was thinking about using the leftover tile to build a wrap around table around the smoker; replacing both the front and side shelves. Might be a bit heavy though. Anyone else used tile?

Bubba, no problem! I have been kicking this idea around for awhile, I think it will outlast the smoker!

Geek, ceramic tile... hmmm, the only thing that would concern me would be the grout holding up with being exposed to the weather. I know you can get sealers for it, don't know much about what's available though...
