Hey, looking for  bit of advice here.

I'm going to smoke some pork loin roast. I brined it, going to rub it soon and in the late morning begin the smoking process.

As I'm new and still usung woodchip I was usung initially in a smoker box, I was wondering how much someone may reccomend I use for wood chips.

Using whiskey barrel chips, the box says soak 2 - 3 cups, would that the the proper amount? More? Less?

Appreciate the insight!

I don't soak chips and just fill the chip pan as needed during the smoke. Remember TBS (thin blue smoke) if you can see a light wisp or not see it but smell it your good.

There is some benefit to soaking your chips but I won't go into the science of that right here.  Go ahead and soak about 2-3 cups but just use 1 cup at a time.  Allow the white smoke to clear up before putting your pork loin in the smoker.

Loins only take about 30 -40 minutes per pound and should cook to an IT of 140.  You will achieve 145 + during the resting period (at least 30 minutes wrapped in foil).  This shouldn't take long.

Good luck,

Bill
