Hello all. I can’t remember what got me fired up to do wings today, but something did and I gave them my first shot on the akorn.

Got one pack of the “wingetes” that were broken down and one pack of whole wings.

I sprayed them with a light coat of Pam, and dusted with Tony C’s and some paprika on both sides. I’m still struggling to make my grill sit steady on a temp but once it got to 375 I threw them on (along with thickly sliced onion and asparagus that were delicious with a very light dusting of hidden valley ranch powder) fearlessly.

The temp dropped well below 300 and took forever to climb back up. I’m not sure why, but once I removed the grill pan that held the vegetables it took off back to 350 and I quit looking at it. I did an indirect cook but moved the wings to the outside of the Stone coverage at the end to crisp them up.

Boy were they all I wanted and more. They were perfect with just rub, but I did mix some off brand wing sauce, Franks red hot and butter together to dig them in and that was great too. Loving this grill and the results I get with it.

Also, because I use/used this forum so much as a greenhorn, I try to provide details and info I could see other green horns looking for.

So, they cooked around an hour, i wasn’t in a hurry and just let them cook. Some were crispier than others, but none were tough and the skin was so tender and tasty

Also learned to put more chunks in with my lump. Prior to today I would only put 2-3 chunks but adding more in layers with my lump produced much more predictable and desirable smoke favor for me. Used a couple apple chunks and hickory

Thanks guys happy smoking

The wings look great. Did you put the wings and onions on tight out of the fridge? if so that why it took along time to get back up to temp.

And can someone tel me what a point is? lol i see folks give them but couldn’t find anything about it in search
