MAN! That was one hell of a hail storm!
Felt bad for them when the windows were just smashing. I always wheel my smoker in and store it on the porch to keep it out of bad or even wet weather, but I would probably cry if something like that came along and destroyed my garden.
Mega Suck! Like living on a driving range, except 2 weeks worth of practice compressed into a few minutes. Like being at the Alamo. Just one of the reasons I put up with 115* temps in Phoenix. My wife is from E.Iowa. Grew up blocks from Missississississippi.
...and those were about golf ball size. Apparently there is some county that the governor declared a disaster area. I guess those hail stones were the size of baseballs. BASEBALLS! can you imagine, baseballs (only heavier) falling from the sky. The news was just showing pictures of houses and cars that looked liked they'd been bombed. What if some poor schmuck got caught out in that stuff. Ouch!
Not to mention the poor farmers. Corn that was 8 feet + tall in the area has been reduced to rubble. Feel bad for these people. Mother Nature can be a meal ol girl when she wants to be
Dude, I was southwest of Decorah yesterday picking up some steel for my smoker. Man, the corn fields were just striped bare. Almost like the stalk chopper went thru at the end of the season. Something about that area as it always seems to get hammered. The guy I get my steel from is also an area farmer. His crop was totaled by his insurance agency.
We had an I'll use the word "HAD" 4 brand new work trucks sittin down there waitin ta take delivery on em. Well, guess they gonna order 4 more. Knocked the windows out an beat the cargo boxes ta pieces. There goes another 6 weeks er better.
