Why did it take so long?

Hi All,

Thought I'd say hi.

Only recently discovered the joys of low n slow, and can't beleive it has taken so long!

Have a 5 burner gas BBQ and pretty much just did the usual steaks, skewers, and sausages with the occasional go at prawns and scallops.

Well Man v Food changed all that!

Started out with a smoker box in the gas BBQ, then added another smoker box.
Then bought an AMNPS and used that in the gas BBQ.

Did a brisket with a Dalmatian rub after some friendly tips from a Texan mate and that was it...Hooked!

Have since used the gas BBQ to do a couple more briskets and a pulled pork.

Last week I went and got myself a 57cm weber kettle and a 40" Masterbuilt electric smoker.

Tried my hand at pulled pork in the MB last weekend and was very happy with the results. Will be giving a brisket a try on the MB, and hopefully get a chance to use the weber this weekend (if it doesn't rain). Really looking forward to the charcoal difference.

And in a case of great timing I will also be visiting Houston and Memphis in about a month, and I've heard a rumour there is a slight chance I may be able to get some Q in them there parts.

Anyway, I look forward to picking up plenty of tips from this forum and developing my (few) skills!

Thanks for the welcome guys!

Dave, yeah, have managed to pick up a couple of things, just need to figure out how to use them now.

My wife loved the pulled pork we christened the MB with last weekend so I am really keen to keep going.
