my neighbor is giving me a whole trout and i want to smoke it whole. i'm not sure how to go bout doing it as i haven't done but 1 fish in smoker. ok go !.........bob
 
smoke it any way i can, yes he has it whole with skin in freezer. i just know how long or cut into steaks or smoke it whole ?
 
If you smoke it whole, then just smoke it until it flakes off the bones. Hard to check with a therm, but if you could it would be around 140 degrees IT. If it is a big one then just filet it & it will be done in 45 minutes or so. Good luck & let us know what you decide to do & how it came out.

What type of smoker do you have? Are you seeking to smoke it as an entree or appetizer?
How big is the fish?
 
dont know yet he has not given it to me yet. i'll probably filet it. i have an old char broil smoker i converted it over to a RF that's bout 14 years old.
