Who owns a Cookshack and what are your thoughts on performance and value?

I have the Amerique.  Great smoker, solid, does a fine job. But very expensive.  It is digital. But 5 hours for ribs is still 5 hours for ribs, digital controls or not.  And an overnighter for butts is still overnight, waiting for the butt to hit 190.  A small remote thermometer in the butt will give me the internal temp just as well as the built in probe. And a lot less expensive. The shelves are 14 X 17 and I wish they were a tad larger. Overall, I am happy (and a little wiser now).

I've got the smokette SM009 that I have had for almost 10 years. Absolutly the best smoker I have ever owned. I've had other electrics and propanes but this one is great. I had a minor issue with temperature comtrol after the first year and they sent me a new thermostat, no charge. It is their smallest unit but it is big enough to smoke a 20 lb Turkey, which is my mainstay. I have used it in the summer when the temps hit 90+ and in the winter at minus zero. No adjustments necessary. I keep it set at 225 and it takes 36 minutes per pound for a turkey and only used 2 chunks of hickory.

I originally posted to get a feel for what folks were using and what they liked or disliked about it. Seem like for the longest time as well as the longest thread, the Masterbuilt line and it strengths and many shortcomings dominated.  I also posed the same series of questions over on another site I  am a member of.

Glad to know it is working well for you.  They are solid (and pricey) units.  Once in a while they have a scratch and dent model which is how  I acquired mine.
