New smoker here, just started a couple months ago. But I've been drinking whiskey for awhile now, and I'm curious about reducing various whiskeys and making sauce.
I'm big on scotch, and wouldn't mind trying a heavy islay to boost that smokey flavor up a notch, anyone here got any tips?

An English friend from Connecticut came to visit while recuperating from a broken pelvis. (Nasty fall down his basement stairs)
He brought a bottle of Glenfiddich (sp) single malt. Old stuff, probably very expensive Scotch Whiskey.
Sorry, it just was not for me. Tasted like most Scotch.
To me, Scotch tastes like paint thinner. :p
I tried, believe me I tried. But couldn't gag down more than half a glass. :(

Give me a glass of Gentleman Jack if we are going to drink whiskey, thank you.;)
Pick your poison, grab some Bar-B-Que, and deal the cards.

If you want something heavier on the islay you should try Ardbeg 10. It kicks it a couple notches above the Laproigh in terms of smoke, and it's around the same price point.

And whiskey is just whiskey friends, just like anything else it's made to be consumed, regardless of cost or rariety. It's worthless if you dont use it.

And I appreciate the input holly! I'll see what I can come up with.

And Sonny, maybe Irish whiskey is up your alley, it's pretty friendly like most Jack.

As Whiskey goes, I like my Gentleman Jack the best so far. In my younger dayz, I liked Southern Comfort for a time.
Now, it tastes like cough syrup. LOL!
I like Butterscotch. So thought some day I could acquire a taste for Scotch. But nope, never happened.
I was California Born and raised. So maybe I am just too far from the Isles to appreciate it.
But I'd bring my Jug 0 Jack to the table and enjoy some fine Bar-B-Que with you. ;)

Mostly.... I am a beer dinker. Any beer. As long as it has the four main ingredients, B-E-E-R.
Not fond of those 3 letter brews. The mention of which make me think of Ailments. :p:D

As you can see, it does not sit in the cabinet aging.
