Right. Regular oven windows need cleaning to. It's just how often you want it cleaned. I let it go and take a razor to it. I'll get the 340G at Sam's (trapezoid window) if I have a need in the future but love the gen 1 40. The door around the window with the 340G is thicker than all other gen.

Interesting---I didn't know the Trapezoid Window was thicker!!
I keep my Window real clean---Doesn't take long if I clean it before each use.

I like it clean, because I left out one of the things I like about the Window-----I like to gaze at the Beautiful meat that's being Smoked inside my Smoker.
And if I get company, they always want to see what I'm smoking, and I can show them any time without opening the door.

I must not have been clear. I believe that the glass is the same thickness as other gens. The door is much more substantial and thicker, providing more insulation.

No you were clear enough, but my one-track mind was on glass at the time, so it took in "Thicker" and "Glass", and mistakenly put them together.
So as we used to say, "My fault there Third Baseman".

I'm a little unclear here. What is happening to the extra one you won't be keeping?
If you live in North TX I'm sure I could find someone to take the extra one off your hands for like $40-50 :D

She's sitting in my garage currently. I just hate the window!! I'm in Florida so I can't let ya have it. TBH, I would let it go super cheap. I've only been smoking for a few months and I have to say I love it. If letting someone else have it and enjoy smoking, I'm good with that.

Too bad you are so far away lol.
I found an MES40 Gen2 for $40 on Craigslist once and I bought it to explore and figure out how to rewire for a PID controller. Once I had it up and running well I knew how I was going to do my MES40 Gen 1 for a PID setup.

I gave the $40 MES40 with an Auber PID, mailbox mod + AMPNS, and a Maverick t733 to my mother as a gift for mothers day :)

Just some ideas if you have anyone you want to make a nice gift for :)

Thanks :)
I think the complexity of the Maverick keeps her from using it as much as she might. I have a much easier 4 probe thermometer to give her next gift holiday :)

Should have given her a 732---The 733 is too complex for me too---That's why I got 2 732s.

Yeah at the time I gave it to her and I had a ThermoPro TP20 on the way to me. The TP20 is WAAAAAY easier to work and I would have given the TP20 to her but I didn't have it yet. So now I have a replacement one ready to go for her :)

In the out of box testing the new thermometer is easier to use, I just need to test all the probes to see where they stand. Maybe this sunday I can give them to her, we'll see. :)
