I live in a part of the world that has a lot of apple orchards. Various variety's. It got me to wondering. Is there an apple tree that provides better wood for smoking than others? Or are they all about the same?

Jack

We have quite a few apple orchards here in Western Pennsylvania and I sometimes approach the owners when tree trimming season rolls around for wood. Many varieties, and I as of yet have not been able to distinguish any difference in the smoke flavor.

Perhaps others have and will join in.

I too have used many varieties and have found no difference in the flavor.

Thanks guys. It looks like I don't have to search for any special kind.
