I literally just started this new hobby of mine after having a few events with friends that were already currently doing this and learning the tricks of the trade and after enjoying some amazing meats that were the result of their endeavors i decided I HAD to start doing this also and getting into it. I was already in the market for a new grill anyway but i decided to go with a new Pit Boss Austin XL 1000 Pellet Grill and Smoker. Thoughts about this unit? Tricks or tips? I knew this would be a little different than a traditional Vertical....so any help would be appreciated. Thanks all!! :)

welcome from pa, the first tip I can give you is to remember the hotter you go with pellet grills the less smoke you will get. if you plan on smoking things at higher temps you might want to look into a amnps tube.

Welcome to the obsession from Ohio. I’m not a pellet guy but I have heard depending on your unit if you want a more pronounced Smokey profile you may want to add a smoke tube.

Welcome from Tennessee. I have that smoker and have about 400 cooks to date on it with absolutely no issue besides replacing igniter once. Customer service was great and 5yr warranty covered the part. You got yourself a solid smoker. Enjoy the site
