Getting ready to smoke my first brisket in the morning. I was wondering what wood you all use for brisket? After reading a lot of different posts I was wondering what you all thought about a hickory and cherry or hickory and pecan mix?

I like to use hickory on brisket, but any one or a combo of all 3 will work.
I think hickory & cherry would be a good combo!

Im a hickory fan but some cherry added to the mix can give some great color imo, trying different blends takes time to pick which you prefer, mesquite is rated high by some folks but can be pretty strong, good luck trying to decide lol

I'm a mesquite fan myself. I like oak, too. I can't say I like one over the other because in my opinion they are two very different tastes.

With what you have, I'd personally start out with hickory and follow it with pecan.

I'm a hickory user as well for brisket

Was just now actually able to find oak chips so I think oak it will be. Thanks everyone for the replies!

Ended up using all oak @ 230 degrees. Pulled it out at 188 IT. I think it turned out excellent.
