What type of wood?

I'm in the process of drawing up plans to build a small wooden smokehouse in my yard. My question is what type of wood is best suited for this. I was thinking of using cedar, any thoughts on this?

I would use either cedar or cypress so the wood could be left untreated and still be exposed to the weather.
