Hi everyone! I was recently given two burlap sacks full of wood chips from a whiskey barrel and I have no idea what to do with them. I have a offset stickburner and a wsm neither of which I have ever tried chips in. Is it a waste of time to even try using the chips? I'm thinking they are just going to burn real quick to the point where it's a waste of time even trying to use them. Plus I am thinking I will have to keep opening and closing the firebox to add them, adding time to the cook. I'm not a huge fan of soaking wood in water (don't like the flavor...taste like soggy smoke to me). I use dry chunks and lump/charcoal in the wsm and pretty much all wood in the stickburner in the form of splits and chunks. Anybody have any experiences/suggestions you care to share?
