going thru my spice box and i have 2 packs labled "cure". I believe they are from a high mountain kit. they call it cure and the hi mountain instructions say to measure it at 2 t pr pound....Its cream colored, not pink, and does not look like QT. Is there a use for this in curing, or should i pitch it and stick with insta-cure.
 
If you don't know what is is it has no value to you.   It's not like trying to decide if the red stuff is cayanne or paprika. 
 
i 've got a lot of the same stuff and would like to know if it is as good as insta cure

yaaa this stuff...right after i posted the question i threw it out

Not that it really matters now, but I did some hi mountain snacks sticks yesterday and that is definitely the cure supplied with their kits. I shore wouldn't try to substitute it for cure 1 though because you don't know how or what it comprised of
