So i want to build a drum smoker and i was curious what would be safe for burning out the drum.

I have a bunch of decking and fence pickets from renovations.

If there is stain on the wood is it safe to use?

what about pressure treated?

The fence pickets are cedar but i think there is stain on them.

I know I cant cook with it but i didnt know if it would produce a harmful coating in the drum.

If it was me I would use the wood if thats all I had to burn with.
You could use a weed burner to burn it out.
Either way use a wire wheel on it after the burnout

I was trying to kill two birds with one stone.

Digging a bit, pressure treated seems to be a bad idea.

Not sure about wood with stain on it.
