The bacon most of you all use to wrap ABTs and Fatties, what is your FAV? Or do most of you all get custom bacon from butchers.

I'm just wondering so I can start making ABTs and fatties

I'm with warthog.... for ABTs the thinner the better I think. The thicker stuff just takes too long to crisp up and everything kinda gets soggy. Unless you pre-cook the bacon I guess.

I usually just buy the super cheap store brand stuff. One store locally sells stuff that's so thin it's almost like a sheet of paper. Works really good for wrapping and gets nice and crisp in about the same time it takes the jap to cook, so it comes out great.

whatever of the basic brands is on sale(Oscar Mayer, Hormel, etc.). Like others have siad it is thin, and crisps up good.

Although after how well capicola worked on my last ABT's I am going to switch to that when I can get to a deli that has it.

It all depend on want I'm using it for. Abt's I use thin cheap bacon the same for fatties but if I want a good tasting bacon like some of us here I make it. I have made some canadian and buckboard and I'm sold on both for eggs and bacon or BLT's. for placing over meat to smoke I use Wright brand bacon thick cut and peppered.

At first, I used Wright thick cut bacon for my fatties and ABT's but it was just too thick and took forever to crisp up. I stick with that for plain old bacon with breakfast or BLT's....especially the peppered kind.

For fatties and ABT's, now I stick with either Farmland or Oscar Meyer, definitely the two highest quality regular cut bacons around. Lots of meat to fat ratio (I like the meat part, and that's really what you are paying for).

Homemade of course
