Had seen welding blankets discussed a lot recently and thought I'd toss this out. Harbor freight carries several sizes, their 6'x6" is about $20. They also have 14" welding gloves for 3 for $10.00 or so.

Harbor Freight has quite a few neat things.

They also carry propane torches (used to start charcoal) for $20.

Thank you. There is one of these near me. (I know they are way cool so should actually stay away) I was looking on the net the other day for blankets and did not find it, though.

I was wondering if some fireplace insulation could be glued on the inside or outside of the smoke box. Might be handier than a welding blanket if you could get it to work.
