And you thought I was talking about another child...LOL. My GOSM wide body arrived thursday night and I got to season her today. Wife wanted to know what happened to the lawn...the lines in the lawn wernt straight...well it's sure hard to watch where your goin when your starin' at the TBS!

Everything went well...didn't see much smoke at the begining, but like everyone says...if you smell smoke, your smokin...so I didnt panic...then the TBS started showing, what a beautiful thing. After about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs of smoking at 300 I noticed that the smoke stopped...so I went over, opened the door and...OH NO! My wood box was on fire, big time! so I pulled it out with tongs and spatchula and put'er out with the water can...My question here is what did I do wrong or what do I do next time so this doesnt happen again (I used the provided smoke box) do I wrap that with foil? or is foil just for the coffee can mod? OK I'll stop babling for now.

Here's a pic of me with smoker and another of my daughter, me and smoker...She loves helping daddy! Sorry, no pics of the TBS, was to busy doin yard work. Will try harder next time.

you'll sure like that new toy got mine about 2 months ago and have been very pleased with it..as far as the wood box bursting into flames can't say that i've had that problem..could be when you opened the door it created a backdraft and the rush of oxygen burst the wood into flames.. i have noticed that even if you don't see smoke the wood has probably turned into charcoal but is still eminating the TBS only it is super super thin

24, that second pic is precious. I love it. Give it time, you'll figure that smoker out.

Cogratulations on the new toy. Also that be a cute little one yall got there. As fer yer chip box, I never did use the one that came with mine, switched to a 9x9 cake pan. Cover with aluminum foil, poke bout five holes in it. When my smoke starts dyin down I peel the foil off an shake the pan a bit. Good luck with yer first smoke and may the smoke gods smile upon yer cooker!

I agree with linescum. Lots of time that peek in to see the smoke sets of a flare up. Maybe some grease down in there? Good luck. Daughters are cool helpers. Love the questions.
