Venting my large smoker

Fellas i have a ventilation problem.I am building a large 3 door commercial electric smoker,that will be in my garage.Its a large garage,with my pool table and all my man toys,so i put in a 75,000 btu mobile home furnace to heat it as i live in northern michigan.My furnace vent is a five foot section of b duct that goes straight up from the top of my furnace straight up through the roof to a cap above it.Can i put my smoker vent into that and use it?Furthermore would i be putting anyone in harms way by having a possible carbon monoxide issue with the furnace back drafting through the vent of the smoker downward into the smoker?Any HVAC guys,smoker ventilation experts,or simply fools like me who thinks they have bright ideas,please respond.....and i thank you in advance for any advice.

What's gonna happen when your furnace kicks on? Too many Ifs,I'd say vent it straight out the wall -up inside -out - up outside.

I appreciate the advice,i was thinking that since its a straight shot up from the furnace,that the draft alone would go straight up...you know the path of least resistance.I also was going to invert the y downward to connect to the smoker.I hope i,m explaining this correctly.

I understand what you mean I think.Like this /l ? I'd be afraid the furnace exhaust would cause a vacuum on the smoker pipe by the air rushing by and create an overdraw.

Well with the massive size of the smoker,and its 5000 watt element,i,m not even sure i would need the furnace while smoking,and since the smoker is PID controlled,it claims the controller is smart enough to adjust any temperature variation...i just dont know and before i did it i was hoping for some advice....and i appreciate yours,but the building is also heavily insured,and lastly i will have to run this by my agent.When i began this project i wanted to do it right...i,m just a chef,and i have a decent knowledge of smoking,not fire codes,proper ventilation,heat safety in the duct itself if both did come on....i,m completely clueless.But i have a desire to do it right,i,m only in extreme cold temps for 5 months of the year...lol....i began the whole project going....this shouldnt cost more than $800.00....and that doubled...that being said,with all this expense...i would just like to try and do it right....without inviting the fire marshall and an HVAC inspector out for a chat.

I understand where you're coming from...Talk to an HVAC and a fireplace/woodstove professional BUT be careful who you talk to/share your idea about this project with locally ;)

As others mentioned the furnace if running will overdraw thru smoker or other problems. Trying to combine systems can cause grief. I would use dbl wall stove pipe smoker thru metal collar in roof (I do this at work for boilers and other equip with temps over 600f) and then flashed in on roof.

Thank you all for your input,and i will be carefully considering all your suggestions and hold out for more.Phathead69,Here i only have to go double wall pipe if i,m doing a wood burner,which im not the furnace is natural gas...and again i only installed it to play pool,work on cars....and play with my meat saw,drill press,scroll saw,grinder...ect...so it would be easy to just stop the furnace from coming on during smoking.But the system i,m building is going to be two large water cooled water cooled smoke generators....i,m more worried about creosole dripping back into the furnace.Again what i love most about this site is i get to gather information from all walks of life....because even the Brain surgeon needs advice on brake work.Thanks again guys.
