I've been wanting one of these for a long time, but couldn't find one that I thought was worth it as the commercial ones start at about $1000. I usually marinate a couple chops or chicken breasts in a 1/2 gal mason jar vacuumed with my food saver. Now that I started doing a lot more jerky since I got my slicer, I started looking as I didn't want to wait for the 24 hour marinade time. The three that I was looking at were the Revvo (about $160), the marinade master ( about $70) and the Culinary Prep (list for $399) I looked at online reviews and the build of the units the best that I could online, and thought the culinary prep "Looked" to be better built. If you go to butcher Packer, they sell the culinary Prep for $399, but I found it for $79 + $5.99 shipping at drugstore.com. If you have a Bing cash back account, you can get it for an additional 25% off. Here's how to do it. Sign into your Bing account and search through Bing for "power toothbrushes", at the top you will see a bing cashback link for 25% off at drugstore.com, click on the Bing cashback link and it will take you to the Drugstore.com web site. Once there search for "Culinary Prep" and it should come up with the vacuum tumbler. After I ordered it, I had $20 in my Bing account 2 days later, so it really only cost $59 + $5.99 shipping. I just tried it for the first time with some Leggs Teriyaki seasonings and 4 Lbs. of Eye of Round strips, there was no liquid left in the tumbler after the 20 minute marinade cycle ( which is what Leggs recommended), but I only added about 6 oz of water to the spice mix.
The unit seems to be pretty well built, but only time will tell. If you've been looking for one of these units, I think it is a pretty good deal.
