using MES for first time

hey guys using my MES 40 for the first smoke here in about a hour....yall usually operate with the vent on top open or closed? half-way?

Wide open at all times.....  lets out the moisture and the smoke.... On occasion, when I have added all the smoke I want, I will close the top vent and use the MES as if it were and oven to finish stuff off...  Dave

We have our open all the way all the time.

2/3 to all the way open for me unless I am done smoking and just finishing things off oven sytle, then I will close it.
