I came with last out of desperation for something different. I took half lb. Ground venison and while browning it in a cast iron skillet. I seasoned it with liquid smoke 1/3 cup then used misquet rub, garlick powder and kosher salt. Once the meat was done added about 2 cups of water and the shells that were in the box brought that to slow boil add about 1/3, cup of flower and 3/4 of barbecue sauce. Let simmer till shells are tender and then covered with shredded cheddar cheese. Sorry forgot to take a picture

Sounds like a delicious way to use venison to me. Next time try some stout beer or a beef broth instead of the water. You should find a richer flavor and provide a balance to the liquid smoke if it was too strong.

1/3 cup is not necessarily out of reason depending upon the flavor strength - 1/3 cup is 5.3 tbs liquid measurement. I use hickory liquid smoke and have found 2-3 tbs works in my pressure cooked meals and about 3 -4 tbs if it's a stew or braise where the top is not 100% sealed to handle evaporation.

Like all seasonings, it's a matter of taste and sensitivity. 🍻
