Turkey Getting Friendly!!

This is the first time a Turkey actually came onto the deck.

Since it is a Jake, if I had a license, I could legally shoot it, but what fun would that be.

He's been coming through a couple times a day, cleaning up on the ground under my bird feeders.

The most Turkeys we ever had in our yard was 32, but that was in the Front Yard.

Thanks For Looking,
Bear

Yup---They're around a lot, but never before right onto the deck railing. Mrs Bear was sitting at the table by that door when he jumped up there.

I thought she was BSing me when she told me, "Hey---There's a Turkey on the Deck Railing!!!"

Har, they are ugly but kind of cool at the same time. Thanks for the pictures, Bear.

Get that Sucker in Pop's Brine and fire up the smoker!!!

When I lived in Hawaii we had a brood of 12 wild turkeys that'd cruise through our yard everyday at 2pm. Always knew what time it was!

LOL---Yeah---Not many Turkey Beauty contests going on.

It's really neat when a whole flock comes through, up to 32 of them a couple times.

However the one time they came through and ate all my Wine Berries that were below 3'.

I used to have a friend that was quite a good shot. He made grouse hunting more interesting for himself by going only for head shots. Ususally took the head clean off with the first shot.

If you have a hankering for turkey, and can legally take it, you might think about giving it a sporting chance like that.

Yup---They often follow a pattern for a while.

We haven't seen any big flock yet this year, but last year was 32 together a few times.
