Okay, I know it isn't about smoking but I know you all fry too so I am asking for some help. Getting a divorce. Wife is taking the turkey fryer. It is a Bayou Classic. Awesome set up with the basket and all that. The pot on this one is aluminum. I have been looking around and for new ones I am seeing them listed now as stainless steel.

I have no experience with Stainless. How much of a difference does it make? I am wondering if I go with one or if I should hunt for the older aluminum style. Thanks.
 
Stainless is a much more durable metal will not pit from rubs as aluminum will. Easier to clean as well.

I've had a SS turkey fryer with basket for over 20 years, looks perfect, much easier to clean. RAY
 
That is kind of what I was thinking too. Aluminum is reactive. For frying turkeys who cares cause it's oil. But I do a lot of crawfish boils and the seasoning and lemon isn't really good for aluminum over time.
 
SS all the way. Might take a little longer to heat up but worth it. Yep, if you ever want to make acidic stuff in the pot like sauces or homebrew aluminum is a no no.
