...maybe. Publix stores is advertising USDA choice tri-tip for $12.99/lb. buy one and get another of equal or less value free. What that really means is $6.50/lb. Seems like a good deal especially for something that's so hard to find around here so I bought 4. Even though the add said limit 1 deal, each of the 4 rang up half price.

So, is this a good deal?

I saw that and was going to cehck out tomorrow since our sale starts Thursday. Typically I'd rather buy meat from the back of a Chevrolet truck on the side of the road versus Publix. But if they re decent cuts@$6.50 i'm going to grab.

I GREW UP IN CA AND NOW LIVE IN AZ, TRITIP COUNTRY. I PAY $3.99LB FOR UNTRIMMED TRITIP, MIGHT HAVE PAID A DOLLAR MORE ONCE OR TWICE, NOT OFTEN. I JUST DON'T GET WHY IT'S SO EXPENSIVE IN THE REST OF THE COUNTRY, I GRIND STRAIGHT TRITIP FOR MY BURGERS, THEY'RE PRETTY DARNED GOOD. BEEN DOING THEM ON THE KETTLE FOR OVER 45 YEARS, DID ONE SOUS VIDE YESTERDAY, WAS PRETTY DAMMED HAPPY!

I bet tri-tip burgers are great. It's rare to see them in stores around here and I don't know why. Another regional grocer, Food Lion, will have them occasionally for $9.99/lb. on sale. Reading what others pay for them, I won't pay that, but $6.50/lb. is OK, I think. Definitely not $3.99/lb. though...😉, but I guess I can dream...

I vac sealed and froze 3, the other one will be supper tomorrow night...

Up here in ND TriTip, Skirt Steak, Flank Steak used to be pretty cheap, but harder to find sometimes. Now they are at least double the price when you find them to the tune of $12-20 per pound depending on what you are looking for. I don't understand besides maybe all the attention that got brought to them by celebrity chef's and writers

Tri-tip is a relatively new cut of meat, or at least I never heard of way back in the day when I cut meat for Winn Dixie. Flank steak and skirt steak were cheap, but we couldn't give it away so it always ended up in the hamburger. Now they're hard to find and expensive. My how times have changed...

I'd stock up at that price, local Food Lion has them for 9.99 when they can get them.

Few and far between here in NY. I can get at restaurant depot sometimes but usually 7 to a pack.

Only one grocery chain in my part of NY ever has it, and their regular price is 12.99. Their sale price is 7.99 this time of the year and 6.99 during the summer. A couple years ago, they were 4.99 in the flyer about once a month. I sure do miss those days.

I'm on the eastern side of the state in the Saratoga/Lake George area.

But I know Oswego pretty well. I make the annual pilgrimage out there every May for browns and salmon.

I went back yesterday to grab a couple more and they were sold out. Talked to the meat dept. manager and he said he had no idea it would be so popular and had only ordered 2 cases. Told me that problem would be corrected Saturday...
