So I just got the Junior Elite yesterday, I want to smoke a 6lb brisket tomorrow, but I wont be home most of the morning and wanted to make sure it wont run out of pallets.

Any idea how long it takes for it to go through a full bin of pallets in the "Smoke" settings ?

Thanks in advance

Hey PacMan, welcome aboard, and congrats on that new smoker!

I don't own a Traeger...not really sure how big the pellet hopper is on that Junior Elite, or what its consumption rate would be.  But my Rec Tec pellet cooker burns right at 1 lb. of pellets per hour when smoking at a cook temp of 225*.  Might be a rough estimate for you until you burn some pellets through your rig and get a gauge of how it performs.

When I did own a Traeger it could go for hours on the smoke setting with no issues...

I used it most when doing large batches of fish.

Be aware that it can be really tricky to get predictable temps with Traeger units -  even with the upgraded temp control unit.

This isn't to say you wont have good results, but  the 185F or 225F setting on the dial will vary greatly depending on your ambient temperature.

If it were always 70F and 60% humidity those gauges may always be right... Just get to know your cooker before you wander off too far for too long.

I have an old moving blanket I throw over mine in the winter to help cut down on pellets. I usually go through about 7-8lbs ish on a 12 hour brisket at 225 degrees. That's a WAG on the pounds since I keep the hopper pretty full.
