Hey guys, So im new the forum but I currently have a MES 130 and have had it for almost 2 years and I love it. Im looking at upgrading from my cheap charbroil tru-infared grill and im leaning towards a Traeger Pro 22 mainly because I can get 20% off msrp. Want to know what you guys think?

I mainly cook for just my wife and I...and eventually kids lol but right now we were looking to upgrading our grilling arsenal. I know big name doesnt mean its the best but with the discount it almost seems to good to pass up. Ive never used a pellet smoker but it seems pretty simple.

Thoughts? Opinion? Ideas?

Update #1: Just found out I also get a 24% discount for camp fire. Really thinking of their pellet grille with a sear box

Thanks everyone!

I mean if you can get 20% off thats a pretty good deal. If it were me I would just want to make sure it has all the features and meets what I need. I would check to see what else you could get in that price range and make sure its worth the purchase.

Thats whats leaning me towards a traeger is my 20% incentive right now. I was looking at a weber but the the more I read...it seems like a pellet grill is a little more versatile than just a gas grill.

And the wife and I love that smoky goodness...everything from our meat to our whiskey is smoked. haha

That 20% brings a $800 price tag down to $640. and I was definitely trying to stay under the $700 price point.

Have you looked into a Weber Kettle or are you trying to stay away from Charcoal? I do allot of my smaller quantity smokes on my kettle, and it works like a dream.

Chris

The Kettle is a charcoal grill that can easily be used as a smoker, but if you want to stay clear of charcoal then disregard my posts.

I really love my Memphis Elite pellet grill, but when I want serious smoke flavor I use my Weber kettle. Before buying a pellet grill, I'd suggest trying some food cooked on one if you haven't already.

Thats not a bad idea. I dont think ive ever had food off a pellet grill.

I guess a better thing to say is im pretty much set on a traeger pro 22 since I can get it for $640...if i do decide to go pellet. Are there any reasons why you cant see dropping my infrared and sticking just just my MES and Traeger?

I've been looking hard at Traeger, may I ask where you found the discount? My biggest hang up is the price for sure. Thanks

I actually get a discount thru my company, we get a bunch of discounts for a large variety of "outdoorsmen" type of goods. One of the pros of working where I do. lol

And just so happened to find out I get 20% off of their pellet grilles as well!!! oh man this is tough.

I bought a Traeger Pro 22 but have not received it yet. I sadly didn’t get a discount but did get a free cover and folding front shelf. I also bought a GrillGrate to add for searing. I know there are lots of pellet grills but I know several people with Traegers and every one of them is happy. I’m a smoking newb so we will see how I do.
