I've been wanting to buy an offset smoker for a while now (i use a kamado joe normally) and i was looking at the yoder offsets but i've that the pellet smokers seem to be just as if not more populer.

My question is, what are peoples thoughts on the difference between the two types, what would you buy?

lot of choices spend $$ once cry once lol

also if thinking pellet try some food cooked on 1 before dropping $ ,lower smoke profile, I feel the rub and sauce's are more important on the pellet smokers to offset the different smoke profile

You need to ask your self do i want to turn it on and let it cook or do i want to build and tend a fire and be involved. my biased opinion and opinion shared by many wood fire offset produces the best taste but to get that you put in sweat equity. for set and forget you get pellets.

Yoder makes quality smokers of both varieties. i have owned three offsets and two of them have been Lang smokers and i think those are the best if you want reverse flow. If you have questions about the Lang products im happy to help just pm or reply to this.

its serious cash you are laying down so my advice is do your homework and get what you want and you will get smoking enjoyment out for years.

Happy Smoking,
