I can only add a personal story to this......
Some years ago, I attended a Sr Manager training for my previous company I worked for.... it was held in an exclusive vegetarian health based hotel due to the new CEO being vegetarian and having many other food allergies (gluten, eggs and nuts were on this list). This was a 5 day session and we were not allowed car rentals to leave....ie all meals were planed from day and even evening sessions......
Now I have been a meat eater all my life and after 3 days of lettuce and vinegar with some berries I was about to "flee" the session in a grand or very visible way.....if you get my drift.... Oh and the only drinks were coffee, green tea and tap water because bottled water is bad....Lets see, I don't drink either coffee or green tea and apparently filter water is also bad cause of the plastics in the filter........I don't think the hotel peps understood the tap water came from a plastic pipe.....
So on of the third day on ZERO protein of any kind, I was wondering the hotel at a break wondering how I could exit or parish and wondered into the Starbucks (it was like a hidden door) that was in the hotel........And like finding the actual pot of gold at the end of the rainbow....I spied some dried beef sticks (the large one) and a two dozen dt coke bottles....Let's say I bought the whole lot like it was the end of the world!!!! Follow this at the dinner session, I skipped the plant line and opened up a beef stick and cracked open a dt coke..... The smell of the beef filled the whole room and you could hear the "open" sound like it was a nuclear bomb going off and I became the center of attention....... and me being the nice guy I was..... I only charged 20 bills for a meat stick and 10 bills for a bottle of dt coke and sold all my "extra" purchases..... When landed at 11pm on Friday night my wife noticed my demeaner and says "what do you need".... I said beef....so drove straight to Arby's and got a 1lb beef and cheddar and my beef shakes were calmed....talk about a out of body experience.... From that point on, I always added a dietary need for meetings that said meat every meal for work function things.....
So the moral of this story is I've been raised on a high protein diet and most from meat and if I don't maintain that by body and mind is not nice to me......
