I recently acquired an old Texas Original offset smoker. Needs some cleaning but the biggest issue is the Thermometer is broken and rusted on to the smoker. Was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get it off. I’ve already soaked in a breaking agent and WD-40.

Is it threaded? After a long soak. Vice grips and a hammer?
yes it is threaded and i’m doing the over night soak tonight and going at it with the vice grips and hammer tomorrow.

heat on the nut if you have a torch

WD 40 is ok for many things but you need a good penetrating oil, and Mike is right about the heat with a torch. Heat with a torch, then spray with Kroil. Repeat as needed.

Might want to look into a independent thermometer to measure temp at grate level also, just a suggestion. welcome to smf.
