I just wondered if anyone on here uses a Thermapen Superfast meat thermometer? It is a really handy digital probe quick reading thermometer. It gives you the internal temp in 3-4 seconds instead of 15-20 so you can get the lid shut and get back to cooking. I use it mainly for a big load of chicken halves, chicken parts, and meatballs. It is handiest and really shines for those things you have a bunch of and can't feasibly own enough or have enough wires and probes ran to. Also, having something this quick and easy to use we have found ourselves using it alot in the house as well. It has been very handy so far. It was part of my Christmas booty, so not much to report from here as far as durability other than it seems very well made and I am not disappointed so far.

those things are awsome, I'd love to try to talk the little lady into buying one for me, but Im still sweet talking her into all the power tools I still need for one of my too many other bad hobby habits!!! :D
I haven't heard of much trouble out of these. It had a pretty good warranty on it if I remember right. What did you get out of customer service? I've had mine a couple months and used it a dozen or so times and no problems yet. It is a delight for checking temps of a lot of little items like chicken thighs and such. Before I had this a GOSM full of chicken halves was a real pain to try and probe.

The Boiling Point Calculator is fun to play with if nothing else PC. I ran mine again today after you posted the link. Water boils at 211.53° here today. Good thing I checked, I bet that ½° was gonna get me.
I guess it would still be a little further off due to my impure water, but I think I can make due.

Did you check the boiling point in Carthage just for giggles? I bet we're close enough we could almost just share thermometers.
I haven't called them yet Ultramag, but I am going to. I suspect I will be satisfied. Will let you all know how it turns out.
PapaUMag - Nahhh I haven't checked it yet.. I might. I'm not likely to care about a few tenths or hundreths of a degree accuracy. BTW my boiling point today was 211.06º and I too have hard water to mess with the results, but still a neat program for some to play with.

J-what was you probing when it quit on ya? I lent my electronic digital taylor to one of my daughters and she brought it back broken. It don't even shows any numbers, all I get is - - - - when I turn it on. I asked her what she did and she said that she was checking some foiled chicken leg quarters (she pushed the probe through the foil).

With the probe tip be made from two types of metals, she caused the thing to short out.
I bought an orange one this week. It was pretty hard to convince my wife that a thermometer was worth $90. Anyway, these are supposed to be the best on the market, and if it makes ensuring doneness easier on every piece of meat, then it is well worth the money.
I tried it again last night and it started working again, go figger....
