Everytime I start reading through all the great informative posts here I find myself wanting to do nothing else but go home and cook.......and cook.......and cook....... well you get the point. The temptation is so strong I feel like that is my calling and I couldn't be happier doing anything else. There just simply isn't of time to cook all the things I want to and still work a 40+ hour week.

Like others here my desire is to eventually retire from my day job and start my own Q-joint to which I have put many hours of thought and planning into. It's one of those things that I just know somehow I will be successful at, and as life gets shorter I get more and more eager to get started.

A big huge thanks to all you kind folks for helping to fuel my fire and educate me along the way!

Best of luck to you... it's not impossible! My family owned and ran a small country cafe for about 17 years in NW Alabama, and it supported our family of four for that time - and we were open 16 of those years only for breakfast and lunch.

Dad wanted to turn it into a BBQ place at one time, even started buying the equipment for it... but bad health got the best of him before he could get it off the ground properly.

If its your passion - follow your dream. :) We want the SMF special when we come by...

I've had the thought cross my mind more than once too. I'm afraid if it were a job it wouldn't be as much fun. I like the cart idea on weekends though.

it's a lot of work. the prep & set up time are 4x the actual vending & serving work- but it's worth it when people say it's the best they've had & ya get repeat business. plus,ya don't have to worry about going home after work to cook.
