My Maverick ET-73 thermometer came today I can't wait to try it out.
I may have to get some meat tomorrow to give it a try out. I have one question... Why is the on/off switch under the battery door on this model? I have another Maverick and its on the back..?

Anyway, thanks to all who voted for me in the contest and I will do my best to keep the Great Smokes coming.. With the new Thermometer I see life getting easier..

Good question! It is the only thing I don't like about that thermometer... they need to rethink that option!

Seaham That's really strange, mine is on the back also. You mean you have to take off the battery cover just to turn it on? Hey look at the bright side ......... YOU WON!!!!!!

Maybe they had complaints about accidentl shut offs?

That on off switch behind that little door with that silly latch system bothers me also.
Another thing is I have to use a bent paper clip, and reach down to the base of the switch to slide it off and on. That is a pain in the A**.

But the unit works as it should and is accurite.

The switch is inside the access door like that to keep the unit weather-proof seaham. You'll notice there is even a little black rubber gasket seal on the transmitter side.

I agree ... I had puzzled over that until I realized that little detail!
Small price to pay for such a useful gadget!
