Hello

What temp does everyone run their smoker on for chicken wings?

I would like to try some on my Traeger, and I'm primarily interested for times that I have other meat on the smoker. Likely, it would be running 225-250*ish.

Can I get decent wings at that lower temp?

they will cook at that temp, but the skin will be rubbery. You can start them low, then up the temp to 325 or so to crisp the skin, or just cook at the hotter temp. if cooking them with other meat and you can't boost the temp, you can crisp them on a grill, or in the oven. Watch them like a Hawk so they don't over cook

Radio has you covered pretty well. I think I did mine at 225 for an hour them just a few mins in the gas grill. As he said, watch them like a hawk, things happen fast once they go on the grill. I think I had the grill on it's lowest setting which tends to be about 350. I closed the lid for maybe 2 mins. When I opened the lid, I was glad I didn't go 3 mins.

Vortex is my new go to for wings.
You could give them a little smoke in your treager then on the grill. I simply put a smoking wood on the grate above the vortex. Works great since chicken doesn't need much smoke.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Confirming what I was thinking.

I can finish on the gas grill - was just hoping to not have to get both fired up. I'll keep everyone posted when I try some.

About 1 hour & 20 minutes in the smoker at 225 or until the wings separate at the joint easily.
Then about 1-2 minutes on a screaming hot gas grill, then a quick toss in mixture of Frank's or any other hot wing sauce mixed with melted butter. Or bbq sauce if you prefer.

I just made a post about the ones I did. My methods kind of fall in lines with what most everyone is saying. 225 for an hour or so then bump it up to 300 for 1.5-2 hrs.
