So I have one of these digitals. It's only lasted a few months now. Where the wire connects to the probe it has frayed. There are two wires I can see. One that is broke, one that is connected. If I cut the probe, then re-strip the wire and re-crimp, should I be fine? Anyone ever had to fix one of these?
 
Amazon sells replacement probes for Taylor, but if it where mine I do a careful solder job. Insulate with a couple layers of heat shrink tubing then wrap with foil. It couldn't hurt to try.
