Suggestions on Temp Gauges

Discussion in 'Side Fire Box' started by philbob2004, Jun 8, 2013.

  1. Anyone have a preference for temp gauges on the smoker doors? Ours filled up with moisture and are 20 degrees off from each other lol. Also we put an electronic one in the smoker and it was showing close to 40 degrees hotter in the smoker that the gauges on the door. Don't want to spend a fortune but any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

  2. The manufactures gauges are usually "crap".  There are many good ones on the market.  Get yourself one   Makes life easier.  Keep Smokin!

The temp difference from the installed gauge to the food grate is normal....  if the grate is 40 deg hotter, figure it in when reading the installed gauge....    It will take time to figure the difference with different amounts of food in the smoker...    Dave

Philbob. Hello and sorry about the threm. problems. [IMG]  I read where you had water in the dials , that can be minimized by placing them in a bag of dry Rice.  First , are they a decent brand? If not and saving money is not an option for the present Threms. , then the Tel-Tru brand is good. Also , Horizon has a good Therm. (at Bass Pro). Just a thought...
